Shibui platform

The Shibui Platform, designed by Francesco Rota, embodies the Japanese concept of understated beauty through a design that is both elemental and deeply refined. The platform combines a graphite-coloured AISI 304 stainless steel structure with a handcrafted seat panel formed from natural or dark sassafras heartwood sticks, meticulously bound with jute straps to create a surface rich in texture and natural character. The generous, low-slung form encourages a relaxed, informal way of lounging. The sassafras wood is treated with a water-based finish to enhance resistance to oil and moisture while allowing the material to retain its organic appearance and develop a graceful patina over time.
