Sustainability at our core

At The Modern Garden Company, sustainability is integral to product selection. For our trade partners, this means specifying collections that not only meet design and performance requirements but also align with environmental goals and project certifications.

A sustainable product is one that is designed for long-term use, manufactured with responsibly sourced or recycled materials, produced with minimal waste, and capable of being repurposed or recycled at the end of its service life. The brands we represent combine design excellence with measurable environmental responsibility, offering solutions that deliver both aesthetic and technical performance over decades.

Whether the project brief demands compliance with sustainability certifications or simply the assurance of long-term performance, our portfolio delivers solutions that stand up to both the elements and the years.

By working exclusively with manufacturers who prioritise sustainable sourcing, manufacturing, and design longevity, we offer trade clients collections that meet both design aspirations and environmental targets.

Paola Lenti’s ongoing material innovation makes them a strong choice for environmentally driven projects. Their exclusive Twiggy yarn is a mono-material, free from chemical additives, waterproof, UV stable and 100% recyclable. This yarn is used in fabrics such as Tela and Maris, with Maris offering over 150 colour options for extensive specification flexibility.

Cushions now use Aerelle® blue filling, a Global Recycled Standard and EU Ecolabel certified polyester fibre made from intercepted plastic waste. Additional fillings include Lightfill – a recyclable expanded polyolefin – and biodegradable polyester fibres, removing the need for polyurethane foams.

Products such as the Alma seating system reduce material use by replacing traditional padding with high-tensile elastic mesh. Reclaimed and upcycled materials, from semi-petrified wood to ceramic tile waste, further demonstrate Paola Lenti’s closed-loop approach.

Tribù specifies long-life, recyclable materials, including plantation-grown teak, high-pressure cast aluminium with high recycled content, and Canax® fibre, a recyclable hemp/PVC blend designed for outdoor resilience.

The company operates a refurbishment programme, processing approximately 1,500 items annually, reducing landfill and maintaining brand products in service for decades. Their design ethos favours timeless forms to mitigate style obsolescence.

Direct control over production through a wholly owned Indonesian facility ensures consistent build quality and ethical labour compliance.

Manutti products are designed with modularity and recyclability in mind, supporting LEED, WELL, and BREEAM project ambitions. Primary materials include powder-coated aluminium, ceramics, QuickDry foams and high-performance fabrics, chosen for their long service life and minimal maintenance requirements.

Recycled rope features in woven components, and teak is sourced from managed plantations with chain-of-custody assurance. Modular systems such as Kobo and Yiko allow components to be reconfigured or replaced without discarding the entire product, extending lifecycle and reducing waste volumes.

Gloster operates a fully traceable supply chain, owning and managing its own teak plantations in Indonesia. Trees are cultivated for 35–50 years before harvesting, ensuring timber density and durability. Plantations are managed under replanting and biodiversity protection programmes, meeting international forestry standards.

Manufacturing is resource-efficient: small offcuts are used as biofuel for kiln drying, and larger surplus is repurposed or supplied to local communities. Frames are made from powder-coated aluminium with full recyclability, and fabrics include solution-dyed yarns with high UV resistance, many incorporating recycled content.

Gloster’s build quality delivers exceptional service life, reducing whole-life environmental impact.

Talenti integrates sustainable material technology into its Italian manufacturing. Aluminium frames offer infinite recyclability, while Accoya® wood – a non-toxic, acetylated softwood – provides enhanced stability and durability without the environmental impact of tropical hardwoods.

Its proprietary 100% green fabric is made from post-consumer waste, including PET bottles and reclaimed PPE, using a chemical-free process. Fully recyclable and UV-resistant, this textile offers longevity in both appearance and performance.

Products such as the Leaf collection pair this fabric with Vitter, a formaldehyde-free, zero-emission laminate suitable for outdoor environments.
