In 2025, the luxury outdoor furniture industry is undergoing a significant transformation, with sustainability at the forefront of design and manufacturing processes. As clients become more environmentally conscious, brands are responding by integrating eco-friendly materials and practices into their collections, ensuring that luxury and sustainability go hand in hand.

At The Modern Garden Company, sustainability is integral to product selection. For our trade partners, this means specifying collections that not only meet design and performance requirements but also align with environmental goals and project certifications.

Embracing Sustainable Materials

Leading manufacturers are increasingly opting for materials that are both durable and environmentally responsible. Recycled plastics, reclaimed wood, and sustainably sourced metals are becoming staples in high-end outdoor furniture. For example, Tribù specifies long-life, recyclable materials, including plantation-grown teak, high-pressure cast aluminium with high recycled content, and Canax® fibre, a recyclable hemp/PVC blend designed for outdoor resilience.

Similarly, companies are turning to natural materials such as bamboo and rattan, which are renewable and require less energy to process compared to traditional hardwoods. These materials not only reduce the carbon footprint but also add a unique aesthetic to outdoor spaces. For example, Paola Lenti cushions now use Aerelle® blue filling; a Global Recycled Standard and EU Ecolabel certified polyester fibre made from intercepted plastic waste.

Innovative Design Meets Sustainability

Designers are reimagining outdoor furniture by incorporating sustainable practices without compromising on style or functionality. Modular designs allow for flexibility and longevity, while biophilic elements create a harmonious connection with nature. The integration of smart technology further enhances the outdoor living experience, making it more convenient and eco-friendly. For example, Manutti products are designed with modularity and recyclability in mind, supporting LEED, WELL, and BREEAM project ambitions

All of our supplier prioritise ethical production. Gloster plantations are managed under replanting and biodiversity protection programmes, meeting international forestry standards, and Talenti's proprietary 100% green fabric is made from post-consumer waste, including PET bottles and reclaimed PPE, using a chemical-free process

Our Commitment to the Trade

By working exclusively with manufacturers who prioritise sustainable sourcing, manufacturing, and design longevity, The Modern Garden Company offers clients collections that meet both design aspirations and environmental targets. Whether the project brief demands compliance with sustainability certifications or simply the assurance of long-term performance, our portfolio delivers solutions that stand up to both the elements and the years.
